Q

Closure of library prior to finals

Can you please explain why the library is closed the weekend before finals? Of all the times the library should be open it should at least be open extended hours the days preceding finals, like other semesters.

I came without checking the schedule and thank goodness the health sciences bldg was open.

Considering the high cost of tuition and fees, I think this is something you should look into correcting.

Answer

Good morning, Carol.  The University Library follows the Academic Calendar which lists Finals for August 6 & 7 so the library remained open until 1 a.m. on those nights to ensure students had an available place to study for Summer Finals. We were also open the weekend before Finals. I am very sorry for any difficulty you had in finding a quiet place to study for your finals.  Was this for a course other than the Summer 2 or Full Summer Term exam?

Thank you for making us aware of the problem you encountered and do not hesitate to contact us if you need further assistance. If you would like to make a recommendation on how we might improve our services, please feel free to contact the Associate Director of Public Services, Harvey Castellano.

Best regards,
