Q. How do I find a book in the library?

Answer

Search for books at the UTEP Library from the library's homepage, under the MinerQuest heading (pictured below).

Type any of the following into the search:

  • the name of the book you're looking for
  • the author you're looking for books by
  • what you're looking for books about (use concepts and words in the case, not sentences, not phrases)

After you click "Search" and see results, choose the filter on the left side of the screen, "Filter by Source Type" and choose Books (pictured below). This will show you only print books, e-books, as well as some encyclopedia articles.

Once you have identified the book you want to read and/or borrow, you must collect the following information about it (pictured below):

  • Location
  • Call Number
  • Status/Availability

There are several locations in the UTEP Library; please see the chart below for information on what floors you can find the different collections. See the Library's floor maps for further detail.

Once you have retrieved the book and are ready to borrow it, take it to the Access Services Desk on the 2nd (entry) floor to make it official.

Please see the video below for more tips/instructions on locating books in the UTEP Library.
