What is the difference between the Library and the Bookstore?

Answer

The Library loans material – books, government documents, DVDs, etc. -- to users. It also subscribes to databases that provide access to electronic resources – articles, e-books, etc. The Library doesn't purchase textbooks used in courses taught at UTEP; however, your professor may have put their book(s) on reserve. Books on reserve circulate in the Library for a limited amount of time. The Library will never charge an up-front fee; all fines are associated with overdue, lost, or damaged items.

The Bookstore has items available for purchase – class textbooks, scantrons, class supplies, clothing, etc. The Bookstore may also rent textbooks or course materials for an up-front fee for an entire semester. Material rented from the Bookstore must be returned to the Bookstore.
