Why can't I sign in to UTEP Library databases to view full text?

Answer

Please note that this response applies to current UTEP students, staff, and faculty. Unfortunately, the UTEP Library cannot grant remote full-text access to individuals not currently affiliated with UTEP.

There are lots of reasons you might not be able to sign in to view full text. Luckily, we have some simple things you can try to clear the problem before calling us for help.

Try the following in the order that they are listed; if one of the solutions fixes the issue, there is no need to try the remaining issues in the list.

1. Make sure you are trying to sign in through a UTEP Single Sign-On page, which is the only sign-on the UTEP Library will require you to use to view full text.

  • If you are trying to sign in through something different from UTEP's Single Sign-On, the page you are on might not be recognizing your UTEP Affiliation. Please contact us so we can give you detailed instructions.

2. If you are trying to sign in through a UTEP Single Sign-On page, please make sure you are entering your username and password correctly (see example below)

  • Use your UTEP username only, not your entire email address: pete123 NOT pete123@miners.utep.edu
  • Make sure you are typing your password correctly. Try disabling any stored passwords in your browser, especially if you recently reset your password.

3. Clear your browser's cache for "all time" (or similar time setting in your browser).

  • Instructions for various browsers and operating systems here.
  • Once your browser's cache is cleared, try to sign in again.

If none of these solutions allow you to sign in to view the full text you are looking for, please contact the Access Services Desk at ask@utep.libanswers.com or call us at (915)747-5672 so we can help you with some more in-depth troubleshooting.
